This picture was taken of Mary-Kate Olsen when she attended the 25th Anniversary of the Annual CFDA Fashion Awards held on June 4, 2007 in New York City. Pink hair, back then? Was she really that far ahead of her time..
Faux or really her hair colour?
Check out 0800Pink Tumblr for more pink hair and make up your mind. ;)

This is the first time in years I really loved an Emporio Armani collection. I am still going loco for his work from the 90′s, but for the last couple of years it seemed a bit dull. But this Spring/Summer 2012 campaign got me smiling again. It looks fresh and elegant. And how badly do I want those snakeskin with plastic platforms! The models are Tao Okamoto, Kendra Spears and Wang Xiao.

This editorial from Russh Magazine is shot by Hugh Lippe. The model is our dutch Mirte Maas. Styling by Gillian Wilkins, hair by Chi Wong and barely there makeup by Maki H give Mirte an all natural look. I love the 90′s grunge vibe of this editorial. It looks really soft and romantic, but rough and grungy at the same time. Well done. And that blouse skirt in the first picture is awesome, i’d want that one.

This saturday I went to the exhibition of Azzedine Alaïa at the Groninger Museum. It was breathtaking. So beautiful! I don’t know any other designer that literally embraces the female body as he does. It’s so feminine and elegantly sexy. I also really liked the colored walls of the museum with the clothing in it. It gave it something extra fresh. This is a must-see people.

We just came back from the Green Fashion Competition Show @ Amsterdam Fashion Week. It was so so, to be honest. It started with the new collection by last years winner Elsien Gringhuis. Not as exciting as her previous collections, but she said she was doing timeless basics, which we understand in the “Green Fashion, sustainability” story. The movie of her collection however was amazing! It was a short movie just before the show started. Really nice style, well done.
The collection we really loved was the collection by the Australian Narelle Dore. She entered in the 2nd categorie. Her garments were made of bio-wool yarns in very cute pastels, you know we love! But not our Narlle but Carrie Parry was the winner in the second categorie and in the first categorie the winner was Studio JUX
A lot of the designers in the competition were quite comercial or very conceptual and definitely innovative when it comes to sustainability, but not so much when it comes to design. The garments I would want to wear were a sort of furry coat in cream-white by STATdivision (designer Ingrid Meijer) and a pastel yarn dress by Narelle Dore.
Our beautiful princess Maxima was also in the house! She looked lovely in Jan Taminiau and we love that she comes to shows and initiatives like this one. (Although it was very hard(!) to get out of the building with all the security around.)

I met Lauren Manoogian while interning at Bodkin in New York, spring 2010. Lauren has a studio in Brooklyn, where she makes all her jewelry and knitwear. Her collections where in the same showroom as Bodkin was, at Maryam Nassir Zadeh. So I came in contact with her bracelets, necklaces all the time and I’ve been keeping an eye on her jewelry ever since.
Her work so simple with an hint of triba/african influences, I admire how she created such distinctive own signature. I am very charmed by the her mono use of colour too, usually white with a contract colour. Waiting for a store in Amsterdam to pick her stuff up!

People that have seen our pink powder vibe will onderstaand our love for the Toile-de-Luxe collection by designer Gijsje Ribbens. For her collection she dived into the Versace archives. She found a men’s collection show from 1994 with a few girls modeling as sort of accessories, wearing a men’s tailored jacket that looked like a dress. So Gijsje decided to cut up and deconstruct men’s tailor jackets and shirts and remake them into mini-dresses/skirts and women’s shirts. But she did finish all these women’s garments in a classic tailor style. For the styling she wanted it not to look too esthetic, so she used crystals, plastic, thigh-high plastic boots, a blonde bombshell and of course the flamingo pink. Together with her boyfriend Arnout Meijer (product-designer) she designed the jewelry of plexiglass and crystals.

The second Toile-de-Luxe collection we really wanted to show you is by my sweet friend Maxime Cartens. My personal favorite picture in this shoot is the one with the dog. Everything comes together so beautifully in that image. The old Amsterdam house with that slim dog and then the super modern fabric of that plastic coat(it’s made of pvc which is not finished with stitches but everything is sealed!). And I’m also a huge fan of that hand knitted set with that cute little collar.
“This collection is inspired by one of the first ‘housekeeping’ magazines from the 1930′s. In that magazine I found all kinds of fashion illustrations and knitting patterns that I found really inspiring. And with that I found all kinds of random images that fitted together just perfectly like 1950′s cars and inventions.” Maxime says herself.
